The Minnesota Twins started life in 1901 as the Washington Senators and were also known as the Nationals. In 1960 the team moved to Minneapolis-St Paul and took their new name from the Twin Cities. They are in the American League Central Division, playing at Target Field since 2010, and their colors are navy blue, scarlet red, Minnesota Kasota gold and white. Kasota limestone is found in southern Minnesota and was widely used in the construction of Target Field.
The Twins have a somewhat inconsistent record featuring periods of success and long droughts. They won their first World Series as the Nats in 1924 but had to wait over sixty years for their second in 1987 then a third in 1991. They dominated their Division after the Millennium winning six Central Division titles from 2002-2010 but couldn't make it past the AL Championship Series. Let's hope they don't have to wait another sixty years.
The Chicago White Sox are one of the oldest teams in baseball and they joined the American League in 1901. Their original name was the Chicago White Stockings until they took their present name in 1904. They currently play at Guaranteed Rate Field in the American League Central Division and the team colors are black, silver and white.
Despite their long history the White Sox have not had much success with long periods of drought, something they share with city rivals the Chicago Cubs. Things started well when they won their first World Series in 1906, beating the Cubs 4-2. Their second title came in 1917 with a Series win against the New York Giants. Despite winning a handful of Division titles and Pennants their next World Series would not come until 2005 when the Sox swept the Houston Astros 4-0. Here's hoping the next ninety years will be better.
